Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a procedure in which images of the body’s interior are produced using a magnetic field and radio waves – meaning there is no exposure to radiation. Non-bony structures of the body such as the brain, muscles, joints or internal organs can be visualised particularly well using this method.
