Patient Research Council NCT Berlin
At the NCT Berlin, we benefit from an outstanding research landscape characterized by close collaboration between Charité and other leading institutions such as the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine. This strong scientific foundation provides ideal conditions for advancing innovative approaches in cancer medicine.
Our Patient Research Council brings together people from different personal backgrounds and with different experiences who actively contribute their perspectives to cancer research. We are united by the goal of not only advancing medical progress, but also improving the quality of life of patients and creating positive conditions for study participants. Together with the research physicians, we make an important contribution to the further development of research in a practical and patient-centered manner.
Rainer Göbel (deputy spokesperson)
As a patient representative, I believe that communicating with researchers on an equal level is fundamental for improving and accelerating truly patient-centered cancer research. I am happy to contribute my experience and represent the interests of cancer patients.
Klaus Kronewitz
Without research and clinical trials, there would be no progress in tumor therapy. Finally, we as patient representatives are included as experts and can contribute the patient perspective to the process at an early stage. Together with scientists and experts, we are stronger. After 40 years at Schering and later at BAYER, this motivates me to participate in the PatFoR so that tumor patients can benefit today and in the future.
Roger Kutschki
I am happy to contribute, within my means, to bringing the perspective of patients and their loved ones into research. I am interested in all ideas that can develop and improve therapies. For example, work must be done in the future, to ensure that AI is used more extensively in the discovery and treatment of diseases.
Claudia Mohr
I have been living with advanced cancer for over 15 years. It is important to me to stand up for cancer patients, especially those with metastases. Research and innovation are very important here, and I am happy to contribute the patient perspective. I also advocate for cancer survivors, who often receive little support when dealing with late effects.
Anita Nieder
My work on the Patient Research Council at NCT Berlin enables me to bring the perspective of people like me who have multiple myeloma into cancer research. Since 2012, I have been following the therapeutic landscape and have been leading a support group. Being a part of PatFoR enables me to advocate for research impulses that take into account not only survival time but also quality of life and treatment-free intervals. This commitment means a lot to me.
Steffi Stegen
I come from a high-risk family with hereditary cancer and have been active in oncological patient advocacy for 15 years. My goal is to bring experiential knowledge and patient needs into research and care. In the Patient Research Council of the NCT Berlin, I see myself as a bridge to science.
