Research
at the NCT

The core activity of the NCT is to develop and conduct innovative clinical trials, called Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs), which are open to patients nationwide. IITs are essential for testing new diagnostic and predictive methods, novel technologies, and therapies with a focus on personalized oncology.

To ensure that patients’ perspectives are always taken into account, patient representatives are involved in all research activities and are integrated into the governance of the NCT.

Turning ideas into NCT clinical trials

Researchers and patient representatives collaborate closely to develop new study ideas. These ideas evolve during workshops that focus on Priority Disease Areas (PDAs) and Priority Research Themes (PRTs).

The concepts developed during these workshops are translated into study synopses, which provide a concise description of the trial and all necessary information to evaluate the project’s quality and feasibility. These synopses can be submitted continuously via a web portal. They then undergo a multi-stage evaluation process, during which they may be selected for funding or further support.

An overview of ongoing NCT clinical trials sorted by entity is available on the website NCT clinical trials.
