Intensity-modulated proton therapy, IMPT

Intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) is a form of radiotherapy in which a deep-seated tumour is irradiated from outside the body through the skin using protons. IMPT enables precise distribution of the radiation dose, even in the case of an irregularly shaped tumour. The protons release their energy precisely within the tumour tissue, so that the healthy tissue surrounding it is protected.
