A basal cell carcinoma is a tumour of the skin. It is also referred to as white or non-melanoma skin cancer. Basal cell carcinomas originate from the basal cells of the epidermis. Basal cells are responsible for skin renewal. Basal cell carcinomas usually grow slowly and almost never spread to other organs.
