Bio

Distinguished Laureate Prof. Robert Sanson-Fisher, now retired, is internationally recognized as a leader in the field of health and evaluating behavioral research. His work is known for successfully combining behavioral and public health approaches to health care, service models and evaluation. He was the inaugural Director of Cancer Australia was the director of the W.H.O Centre for cancer control in Australia. He has served on Advisory Committees for the Canadian research groups and the U.S.A. Centre for Disease control. He was awarded an Order of Australia for his work in Cancer control and health disadvantage. Prof. Sanson-Fisher is committet to increasing evidence-based clinical practice and reducing health disadvantages. He has published more than 600 peer-reviewed research papers and has obtained significant number of external research funds, including program grants from the NHMRC and other competitive funding agencies. Sanson-Fisher has a close research interest in changing health care providers’ clinical behavior so that it more closely reflects best evidence practice.
