NCT WERA: Würzburg, Erlangen, Regensburg, Augsburg
With the inclusion of the alliance of the four universities and university hospitals of Würzburg, Erlangen, Regensburg and Augsburg, WERA for short, in the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) of the German Cancer Research Center (DZKF), Bavaria is receiving further support for cancer research.
The "Comprehensive Cancer Center Alliance WERA", which has been awarded the title of "Oncological Center of Excellence" by German Cancer Aid, joined forces back in 2019. The four WERA partners cover a service area of around eight million people.
Main research areas
NCT WERA promotes the translation of results from basic research into clinical studies and healthcare in rural regions. Specifically, the development of new cancer drugs and personalized medicine are to be further strengthened. The focus here is on the expansion of innovative immunotherapies and molecular therapeutics.
